Do
you need a government Inspection?
Most
used vehicles (other than trailers or motorcycles) being registered in
B.C. for the first time or returning to B.C. after being registered outside
the province must pass a mechanical safety inspection at a designated
B.C. inspection facility before they can be registered, licensed and insured.
Rebuilt,
altered or constructed vehicles (including kit vehicles) require a structural
inspection along with the mechanical safety inspection.
An
inspection may also be required when you are stopped by the police and
given a ticket called "A Notice In Order". All taxi's, couriers
and buses are required to have one done on a regular basis.
When
your vehicle is inspected there is a list of items that are to be checked.
If you fail any of these items, repairs have to be done. Some failures
may require the vehicle to be taken "Out of Service" (off the
road) until repairs are completed. Only a licensed inspection facility
and inspector can do these inspections.
